| Salvation Army Auction, Houston If you want to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate, The Houston Charity Center encourages you to assist the Salvation Army, which is a social service and disaster relief organization. The Salvation Army runs Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARC) and a series of thrift stores in Houston. Amongst other things, such as food, clothes, furniture, and utility items, the Salvation Army also accepts old vehicles as donations. At the ARCs most vehicles that are donated to the Salvation Army are auctioned to raise funds for the program. If you are looking for a way to get rid of your old vehicle, you may want to consider donating it to the ARC or a local Salvation Army unit. You can even request them to pick the vehicle from your house. The Salvation Army will issue a receipt acknowledging the donation of the vehicle and will then sell it through an auction. The amount which is obtained by auctioning your old vehicle will be eligible for a tax exemption which means that you can claim a tax deduction equivalent to the price at which the car is sold. Most ARCs accept vehicles which are in working condition with clear registration papers and title, though some locations also accept vehicles which are not in working condition.
